Forget the Catalog
A polished brochure doesn't tell you much. I've visited factories that looked ordinary from the outside but produced remarkably consistent luminaires, and I've also seen flashy showrooms hiding production lines that outsourced almost everything. Funny how that works.
Ask for Something They Didn't Expect
Instead of opening with, "What's your best price?", ask for an aging test report, an IES file, or photos from the waterproof testing station. A supplier that actually designs Products—not just assembles parts—usually answers those questions without hesitation. You'll often learn more from a five-minute technical conversation than from twenty pages of marketing material.
Watch the Small Details
Lead time stability matters. Packaging quality matters. Even the way a supplier labels spare parts can tell you whether they're thinking about long-term cooperation or simply chasing the next order. One warehouse project I worked on received 1,200 LED Flood Lights from two factories. Both shipments arrived on time, yet only one supplier had every carton, accessory bag, and installation manual perfectly matched. That reduced installation delays by nearly a full day.
Beyond the LED Chip
People talk endlessly about Philips Lumileds, Mean Well, or Inventronics, and yes, they're excellent component brands. But components alone don't guarantee a dependable luminaire. Heat dissipation, gasket compression, powder coating, and optical alignment all have to work together. That's why manufacturers such as Likelite and other experienced OEM suppliers spend considerable effort refining production processes instead of simply advertising higher lumen figures.
Trust, Built Slowly
Here's my rule after ten years in the industry: never judge a supplier by the first sample. Judge them by the third order. That's where consistancy—or the lack of it—usually reveals itself.
Hoping to cooperate with us in near future.
